OnCor™ Tips
Like all robotic liquid handling systems, the X-tractor Gene requires plastic consumables designed and quality controlled to ensure reliable performance. As a direct extension of the pipetting hardware, tips are especially important. OnCor™ tips were developed by Corbett Robotics to incorporate a range of enhancements:
Rack Design
The OnCor tip rack features standard SBS dimensions with a replaceable lid for easy removal and storage of tips between runs. The rack has a total enclosure design with separate pockets for each tip (as shown below). This helps prevent cross-contamination and allows smart tip re-use during a run and thus minimum tip usage; only 1.5 tip racks are used per 96 extractions!

Liquid Clearance Height
One important attribute is the larger clearance height between the liquid and the filter inside the tip (as shown above). Greater clearance height ensures the filter is not at risk of spurious wetting. Wet filters lead to sub-optimal performance, pipetting errors and contamination risk.
